Georgia Dymock

Georgia is a contemporary artist based in Derbyshire and London, she completed her BSc in Anthropology at UCL and her Graduate Diploma in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts.

With the advance of Instagram and other algorithmic tools, we are living in a time of renewed interest in figurative painting, where this ancient media seems curiously alive in this space, Georgia utilises the painted figure to bring about questions of identity and technology today.

Georgia’s practise challenges traditional understandings of her chosen medium as she combines digital and analogue modes in image creation, where passages of flatness are an indication of her painting’s digital origins. Physically rendered in oil paint on huge canvas supports, Georgia’s figures are composed of curling, distorted forms which contort within the confines of the canvas boundary, where their exaggerated curves are inspired by the generous, rounded shapes from Picasso’s Neo- classical Period.
